High-Performing Teams in Academic Medicine: Leading across Academia & Beyond

In Dr. Wagner’s final professional development session of the spring semester (she plans to rejoin in Fall), we will explore what it takes to build and sustain high-performing teams across the diverse environments of academic medicine. This interactive workshop will focus on practical strategies for leading effectively in clinical, research, and interdisciplinary settings.

Participants will:

• Apply core principles of high-performing teams to research contexts
• Diagnose common team dysfunctions using Tuckman’s Stages of Group Development
• Utilize a Team Charter framework to collaboratively design an actionable plan aimed at strengthening trust, communication, and accountability within their teams

Through small-group work and guided discussion, participants will leave with a concrete tool:  the Team Charter as well as strategies to enhance team performance and leadership impact across academia and beyond.
